RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Thyroid cancer and educational attainment have been related in observational studies. It is unclear if these correlations indicate causative relationships. METHODS: Using large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS) datasets, we conducted an univariable and multivariable Mendelian randomization (MR) study to assess a potential connection between educational attainment and thyroid cancer. The inverse-variance weighted (IVW) analysis method is used as our primary outcome. Additionally, we carry out several sensitivity analyses to evaluate the pleiotropy and robustness of the causal estimates. RESULTS: Univariate MR study shows 4.2 years of additional education is associated with a 41.4% reduction in thyroid cancer risk (OR = 0.586; 95% CI: 0.378-0.909; P = 0.017). Further multivariable MR analysis revealed that body mass index (BMI) acted as a partial mediating factor in the protective impact of higher educational attainment against thyroid cancer. CONCLUSION: This MR study provided genetic evidence that longer education attainment is related to a lower risk of thyroid cancer. Strategies of expanding education may reduce the burden of thyroid cancer in the world.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Major depressive disease (MDD), schizophrenia (SCZ), and bipolar disorder (BD) are common psychiatric disorders, and their relationship with thyroid cancer has been of great interest. This study aimed to investigate the potential causal effects of MDD, SCZ, BD, and thyroid cancer. METHODS: We used publicly available summary statistics from large-scale genome-wide association studies to select genetic variant loci associated with MDD, SCZ, BD, and thyroid cancer as instrumental variables (IVs), which were quality controlled and clustered. Additionally, we used three Mendelian randomization (MR) methods, inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR-Egger regression and weighted median estimator (WME) methods, to estimate the bidirectional causal relationship between psychiatric disorders and thyroid cancer. In addition, we performed heterogeneity and multivariate tests to verify the validity of the IVs. RESULTS: We used two-sample bidirectional MR analysis to determine whether there was a positive causal association between MDD and thyroid cancer risk. The results of the IVW analysis (OR = 3.956 95% CI = 1.177-13.299; P = 0.026) and the WME method (OR = 5.563 95% CI = 0.998-31.008; P = 0.050) confirmed that MDD may increase the risk of thyroid cancer. Additionally, our study revealed a correlation between genetic susceptibility to SCZ and thyroid cancer (OR = 1.532 95% CI = 1.123-2.088; P = 0.007). The results of the WME method analysis based on the median estimate (OR = 1.599 95% CI = 1.014-2.521; P = 0.043) also suggested that SCZ may increase the risk of thyroid cancer. Furthermore, our study did not find a causal relationship between BD and thyroid cancer incidence. In addition, the results of reverse MR analysis showed no significant causal relationships between thyroid cancer and MDD, SCZ, or BD (P > 0.05), ruling out the possibility of reverse causality. CONCLUSIONS: This MR method analysis provides new evidence that MDD and SCZ may be positively associated with thyroid cancer risk while also revealing a correlation between BD and thyroid cancer. These results may have important implications for public health policy and clinical practice. Future studies will help elucidate the biological mechanisms of these associations and potential confounders.

RESUMO

Background: The effect of micronutrients on thyroid cancer has been studied in observational studies, however, the cause of relationships has not yet been determined. Thyroid cancer was the subject of a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis of micronutrients. Aimed to determine whether micronutrient intake has a causal impact on the chance of developing thyroid cancer. Methods: We used a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis with two samples. Our circulation levels of Cu, Ir, Zn, Ca, VD, and VC were reflected by genetic variations reported from GWAS in individuals of European ancestry. For the GWAS outcome of thyroid cancer. Sensitivity studies that included MR-Egger, weighted median/mode tests, and a more open selection of variations at a genome-wide sub-significant threshold were added to our inverse-variance weighted (IVW) MR study. Results: Using the IVW approach, we did not find evidence that any of the micronutrients to thyroid cancer (Cu: odds ratio [OR = 0.88, p = 0.41]; Zn: odds ratio [OR = 0.87, p = 0.40]; Ir: odds ratio [OR = 1.18, p = 0.39]; Ca: odds ratio [OR = 1.12, p = 0.43]; VC: odds ratio [OR = 0.95, p = 0.22]; VD: odds ratio [OR = 0.89, p = 0.04]). The heterogeneity (p > 0.05) and pleiotropy (p > 0.05) testing provided confirmatory evidence for the validity of our MR estimates. Conclusion: This study does not provide evidence that supplementation with micronutrients including Cu, Ir, Zn, Ca, VD, and VC can prevent thyroid cancer.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Report three cases of simultaneous triple semicircular canal occlusion (TSCO) and cochlear implantation (CI) as the treatment of intractable Meniere's disease (MD). CASE REPORTS: Patients with MD can present occasionally with intractable vertigo and profound sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). TSCO and CI have been proposed to control vertigo and restore profound deafness in patients with MD separately. However, a few studies have reported simultaneous TSCO and CI in the same surgical procedure for the treatment of MD. In the present study, we described three patients with MD showing incapacitating vertigo and severe SNHL who underwent simultaneous TSCO and CI after examinations of auditory system, vestibular system, and imaging. Their symptoms were significantly alleviated during the follow-up period. CONCLUSION: The combined TSCO and CI remains a viable treatment option which is effective for the control of vertigo as well as the restoring of hearing in patients with MD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The association between cigarette smoking and thyroid cancer has been reported in prospective cohort studies, but the relationship remains controversial. To investigate this potential correlation further, we employed Mendelian randomization methodology to evaluate the causative impact of smoking on thyroid cancer incidence. METHODS: From the genome-wide association study and Sequencing Consortium of Alcohol and Nicotine use, we obtained genetic variants associated with smoking initiation and cigarettes per day (1.2 million individuals). We also extracted genetic variants associated with past tobacco smoking from the UK Biobank (424,960 individuals). Thyroid cancer outcomes were selected from the FinnGen GWAS (989 thyroid cancer cases and 217,803 control cases). Sensitivity analyses employing various approaches such as weighted median, MR-Egger, and MR-pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) have been executed, as well as leave-one-out analysis to identify pleiotropy. RESULTS: Using the IVW approach, we did not find evidence that any of the three smoking phenotypes were related to thyroid cancer (smoking initiation: odds ratio (OR) = 1.56, p = 0.61; cigarettes per day: OR = 0.85, p = 0.51; past tobacco smoking: OR = 0.80, p = 0.78). The heterogeneity (p > 0.05) and pleiotropy (p > 0.05) testing provided confirmatory evidence for the validity of our MR estimates. CONCLUSIONS: The MR analysis revealed that there may not exist a causative link between smoking exposure and elevated incidence rates of thyroid malignancies.

RESUMO

Fertility concerns are a pervasive issue but very subtle in patients with cancer. Though various studies have focused on fertility concerns, limited research endeavor has been dedicated to bibliometric analysis. Given this, to visually analyze the hot frontier trends of research related to fertility concerns of patients with cancer using CiteSpace and provide new insights for future research in this field using the bibliometric method. We used CiteSpace software to retrieve the literature related to fertility concerns of patients with cancer in the Web of Science core collection database from the year of establishment to 2022 and conducted visual analysis in terms of authors, countries and regions, research institutions, and keywords. The search resulted in 201 valid articles, and the annual publication volume of literature related to fertility concerns in patients with cancer was generally on the rise; the country with the most publications was the United States, which also had the highest influence; the main research institution was Sloan Kettleson Cancer Research Center; the core research scholar was Jessica R. Gorman; the research hotspots mainly centered on quality of survival, women, survivorship, preservation, breast cancer, adolescence, and infertility. The results of this bibliometric study provide the current status and trends in the fertility concerns of patients with cancer and may help researchers identify the hotspots and frontier trends in this field.

RESUMO

Iodine is a reactive trace element in atmospheric chemistry that destroys ozone and nucleates particles. Iodine emissions have tripled since 1950 and are projected to keep increasing with rising O3 surface concentrations. Although iodic acid (HIO3) is widespread and forms particles more efficiently than sulfuric acid, its gas-phase formation mechanism remains unresolved. Here, in CLOUD atmospheric simulation chamber experiments that generate iodine radicals at atmospherically relevant rates, we show that iodooxy hypoiodite, IOIO, is efficiently converted into HIO3 via reactions (R1) IOIO + O3 → IOIO4 and (R2) IOIO4 + H2O → HIO3 + HOI + (1)O2. The laboratory-derived reaction rate coefficients are corroborated by theory and shown to explain field observations of daytime HIO3 in the remote lower free troposphere. The mechanism provides a missing link between iodine sources and particle formation. Because particulate iodate is readily reduced, recycling iodine back into the gas phase, our results suggest a catalytic role of iodine in aerosol formation.

RESUMO

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prevalence and influencing factors of fertility concerns in breast cancer in young women. Methods: A literature search on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases was conducted up to February 2023 and was analyzed (Revman 5.4 software) in this study. The papers were chosen based on inclusion standards, and two researchers independently extracted the data. The included studies' quality was evaluated using criteria set out by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. To identify significant variations among the risk factors, odds ratios (ORs) and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were utilized. Results: A total of 7 studies that included 1579 breast cancer in young women were enrolled in the study. The results showed that for breast cancer in young women, the incidence of fertility concerns 53%(95%CI [0.45,0.58]). The results showed that education (2.65, 95% CI 1.65-5.63), full-time work (0.12, 95% CI 1.03-1.93), fertility intentions (7.84, 95% CI 1.50-37.4), depression level (1.25, 95% CI 1.03-1.5), and endocrine therapy (1.32, 95% CI 1.08-1.62) were risk factors for fertility concerns in young women with BC. Having a partner (0.41, 95% CI 0.33-0.5), ≥1 child (0.3, 95% CI 0.22-0.4) were identified as protective factors against fertility concerns in young women with BC. Conclusions: The incidence of fertility concerns in breast cancer in young women is at a moderately high level. We should pay more attention to the risk factors of fertility concerns to help breast cancer in young women cope with their fertility concerns and promote their psychological well-being.

RESUMO

Background: There has been a substantial increase in incidence of thyroid cancer globally over the past three decades, emphasizing the necessity for efficient surgical management. Surgical intervention requires meticulous lymphatic dissection; however, it is challenging to both accurately identify lymph nodes and preserve the surrounding structures. We investigated the role of carbon nanoparticles in endoscopic thyroid cancer surgery to improve surgical effects and reduce postoperative complications. Methods: Chinese and English literature databases from inception to May 2023 were searched based on inclusion criteria, and data were extracted independently by two investigators. STATA software was used for data analysis. Results: A comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted with 13 publications (9 randomized and 4 non-randomized controlled trials). The results demonstrated that the application of carbon nanoparticles in thyroid surgery led to an increase in the number of retrieved lymph nodes and identification of metastatic lymph nodes. Furthermore, it considerably reduced the rate of improper parathyroidectomy and the incidence of postoperative hypocalcemia. Conclusion: The application of carbon nanoparticles can effectively improve the effects of surgical treatment, can enhance the identification of intraoperative lymph nodes, reduce postoperative complications, and protect the integrity and function of the parathyroid gland. RESUMO

Objective: Vertigo is very common in children, but the specific diagnosis and characteristics are not clear. The main objective of this study was to analyze the characteristics of caloric test (CT) and video head impulse test (vHIT) in vestibular migraine of childhood (VMC), probable vestibular migraine of childhood (PVMC), and recurrent vertigo of childhood (RVC), which can provide a reference value for their clinical diagnosis. Methods: We selected VMC, PVMC and RVC patients under 18 years of age from the outpatient Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery between May 2021 and August 2022. All patients underwent vestibular function examinations, including eye movement recording CT and vHIT. CT results depended on whether both canal paresis and directional preponderance were under normal limits, and vHIT results depended on the gain values of vestibulo-ocular reflex. The results of both tests were analyzed according to the disease type. Results: Among the 81 pediatric vertigo patients aged 5-17 years, 44 were females and 37 were males. According to the type of vertigo, 29 patients (25.80%) were diagnosed with VMC, 11 (13.58%) with PVMC, and 41 (50.62%) with RVC. The abnormal rates of the CT in VMC, PVMC, and RVC patients were 24.14%, 36.36%, and 17.07%, respectively. There was no significant difference in the abnormal rates among the three groups (P > 0.05). None of the patients showed abnormal vHIT results (all abnormal rates 0.00%). The abnormal CT rates were significantly higher than those of abnormal vHIT rates (P < 0.05). Conclusions: VMC, PVMC, and RVC are more likely to be diagnosed by symptoms, as neither CT nor vHIT are specific to any conditions. Due to different clinical presentations of vertigo in pediatric patients, it is critical to further clarify the diagnosis with medical history and clinical characteristics.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the application value of the interventional treatment model for improving the recovery of elderly patients after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods: A total of 50 patients who received THA were randomly divided into the control group (25 cases) undergoing traditional treatment and the experimental group (25 cases) undergoing intervention of cognition, emotion, environment, education, nutrition, and sleep. The mini-mental state examination (MMSE) score, the incidence and duration of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD), the out-of-bed activity time, hospital stays, and the satisfaction degree of patients were compared between the two groups. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in basic information between the two groups. On days 7 and 14 after surgery, the MMSE score of the control group was significantly lower than that of the experimental group (P <0.05). The incidence of POCD in the experimental group was lower and its duration was shorter than in the control group but without statistical significance. Besides, the significantly decreased out-of-bed activity time, the reduced length of hospital stay, and the higher satisfaction degree were observed in the experimental group (P <0.05). Conclusion: Interventional treatment model could significantly increase the MMSE score, accelerate the recovery of elderly patients after THA, and increase their satisfaction degree.

RESUMO

LUBAC-mediated linear ubiquitination plays a pivotal role in regulation of cell death and inflammatory pathways. Genetic deficiency in LUBAC components leads to severe immune dysfunction or embryonic lethality. LUBAC has been extensively studied for its role in mediating TNF signaling. However, Tnfr1 knockout is not able to fully rescue the embryonic lethality of LUBAC deficiency, suggesting that LUBAC may modify additional key cellular substrates in promoting cell survival. GPx4 is an important selenoprotein involved in regulating cellular redox homeostasis in defense against lipid peroxidation-mediated cell death known as ferroptosis. Here we demonstrate that LUBAC deficiency sensitizes to ferroptosis by promoting GPx4 degradation and downstream lipid peroxidation. LUBAC binds and stabilizes GPx4 by modulating its linear ubiquitination both in normal condition and under oxidative stress. Our findings identify GPx4 as a key substrate of LUBAC and a previously unrecognized role of LUBAC-mediated linear ubiquitination in regulating cellular redox status and cell death.

RESUMO

Objective:This study was to retrospectively analyze the results of vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials(VEMP) in unilateral Meniere's disease(MD) patients. Methods:The clinical assessment results of MD patients who visited the department between January 2016 to February 2022 were reviewed. Unilateral MD patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were divided into three groups according to clinical stages, namely, group 1(stage Ⅰ+ stage Ⅱ), group 2(stage Ⅲ) and group 3(stage Ⅳ). The normal value data were used to investigate the incidence of abnormal P1 and N1 latencies, abnormal P1-N1 interwave latency, and abnormal interaural amplitude asymmetry ratio(IAR). Afterwards, considering all the above mentioned parameters, the VEMP result of each patient was graded into four levels(grade 1 means VEMP result is normal, grade 2, 3 and 4 means the VEMP result is abnormal in different degrees). The correlation between VEMP result level and pure tone average(PTA) of MD patients in different clinical stages was examined. Results:The prevalence of cVEMP in three groups was 84.2%, 70.0% and 33.3%, respectively(P<0.05). The prevalence of oVEMP in three groups was 63.2%, 34.0% and 16.7%, respectively(P<0.05). The incidence of abnormal P1 latency, N1 letancy and P1-N1 interwave latency of cVEMP was 21.1%, 26.3% and 24.6%, respectively. The incidence of abnormal P1 latency, N1 latency and interwave latency of oVEMP was 15.6%, 43.8% and 3.1%, respectively. The incidence of abnormal cVEMP IAR in group 1, group 2 and group 3 was 6.7%, 21.2% and 33.3%, respectively(P>0.05). The incidence of abnormal IAR of oVEMP in group 1, group 2 and group 3 was 16.7%, 23.1% and 0, respectively(P>0.05). cVEMP and oVEMP result levels were significantly correlated with PTA(r=0.339, P<0.01; r=0.362, P<0.01 ), respectively. Conclusion:With the progression of MD, the function of saccule-vestibular inferior nerve pathway and utricle-vestibular superior nerve pathway would deteriorate in the same way as hearing.

RESUMO

Deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) are key regulatory components of the ubiquitination system. Many DUBs have been revealed to play key roles in normal physiology and diseases. However, only very limited DUB members have well-characterized inhibitors. OTUB1 and USP8 are two DUBs reported to promote both immune evasion and tumorigenesis in tumor models, yet their targeted inhibitors are in the early stages of development. Here, we describe the lead identification and optimization of an OTUB1/USP8 dual inhibitor, 61, which exhibits highly potent and selective inhibition of both targets with subnanomolar IC50s in vitro. By inhibiting both DUBs, 61 phenocopies the double knockdown of OTUB1/USP8 and exerts pronounced antiproliferative effects in H1975 and other non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines. Moreover, 61 efficaciously mitigates tumor growth in vivo. Collectively, our results provide a useful tool for pharmacological perturbation of OTUB1/USP8 and introduce a promising therapeutic strategy of dual DUB inhibition for treating NSCLC.

RESUMO

Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) influences climate via cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) formation resulting from its oxidation products (mainly methanesulfonic acid, MSA, and sulfuric acid, H2SO4). Despite their importance, accurate prediction of MSA and H2SO4 from DMS oxidation remains challenging. With comprehensive experiments carried out in the Cosmics Leaving Outdoor Droplets (CLOUD) chamber at CERN, we show that decreasing the temperature from +25 to -10 °C enhances the gas-phase MSA production by an order of magnitude from OH-initiated DMS oxidation, while H2SO4 production is modestly affected. This leads to a gas-phase H2SO4-to-MSA ratio (H2SO4/MSA) smaller than one at low temperatures, consistent with field observations in polar regions. With an updated DMS oxidation mechanism, we find that methanesulfinic acid, CH3S(O)OH, MSIA, forms large amounts of MSA. Overall, our results reveal that MSA yields are a factor of 2-10 higher than those predicted by the widely used Master Chemical Mechanism (MCMv3.3.1), and the NOx effect is less significant than that of temperature. Our updated mechanism explains the high MSA production rates observed in field observations, especially at low temperatures, thus, substantiating the greater importance of MSA in the natural sulfur cycle and natural CCN formation. Our mechanism will improve the interpretation of present-day and historical gas-phase H2SO4/MSA measurements.

RESUMO

Background: The incidence of acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress (ALI/ARDS) is high in sepsis aggravating morbidity and mortality. Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) has pharmacological activities in the treatment of inflammation and antiviral. Materials and Methods: Sepsis rats were constructed by the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) surgery. After GA (25 and 50 mg/kg) injection, the survival rate, blood oxygen, biochemical indexes, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, and wet/dry weight ratio of the lung were observed. The bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was collected to count the cells and measure the level of TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-10, and high mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1). Lung tissue sections were taken to observe the levels of histopathological injury and apoptosis by HE and TUNEL staining. The levels of HMGB1, TLR4, p-38 MAPK, NF-κB, and ERK1/2 proteins were observed by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. Results: GA treatment improved the survival rate, blood oxygen, ALT, AST, BUN, and Scr of CLP rats. It could advance the MPO activity, the wet/dry weight ratio, histopathological injury, apoptosis, and the IL-10 level in the lung. After GA injection, the number of total cells, neutrophils, and macrophages in the CLP rats was reduced and the levels of TNF-α, IL-1ß, HMGB1, TLR4, p-38 MAPK, and ERK1/2 in the CLP rat were also repressed. Conclusions: GA treatment may improve the sepsis-induced ALI/ARDS and inflammation by inhibiting HMBG1. This study provided an experimental basis for the prevention and treatment of ALI/ARDS caused by sepsis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the possible pathogenesis of recurrent vertigo of childhood (RVC) and the clinical diagnosis value of vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs). METHODS: The clinical data of 19 children (5.95 ± 0.38 years) diagnosed with RVC and 17 normal children (5.35 ± 0.31 years) enrolled in the control (NC) group from April 2017 to February 2021 was collected and analyzed. All subjects were tested for both cervical VEMP (cVEMP) and ocular VEMP (oVEMP). The elicit rate, thresholds, N1 latency, P1 latency, interval, amplitude, and amplitude asymmetry ratio (AAR) of VEMPs were compared and analyzed between the two groups. RESULTS: (1) The elicit rates of cVEMP and oVEMP have no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). (2) The thresholds of cVEMP and oVEMP in the RVC group were higher than that in the NC group (P < 0.05). (3) The N1 latency of cVEMP in the RVC group was longer than that in the NC group (P < 0.05). The P1 latency of cVEMP and latencies of oVEMP have no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). (4) The interval of cVEMP in the RVC group was longer than that in the NC group (P < 0.05), while the interval of oVEMP has no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). (5) The amplitude of cVEMP in the RVC group was higher than that in the NC group (P < 0.05), while the amplitude of oVEMP was similar in the two groups (P > 0.05). (6) The AAR values of oVEMP and cVEMP were similar in the two groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The elicit rates of VEMPs in children with RVC did not differ from that of normal children, but the thresholds were all increased, suggesting reduced sensitivity of the otolith organ and vestibular nerve conduction pathways. The P1 latency of cVEMP was normal in children with RVC, but N1 latency and interval of cVEMP were increased, we finally reached a conclusion that there might be potential impairment in the inferior vestibular nerve and the subsequent nerve conduction pathway in RVC.

RESUMO

Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the speech recognition in noise in patients with unilateral hearing loss(UHL), and explore the compensation effect of behind-the-ear(BTE) hearing aid on speech recognition in patients with varied degrees of UHL. Methods:Twenty-five participants with UHL were divided into two groups according to the degree of hearing loss: one group included subjects with unilateral moderate and moderately severe hearing loss and another one included subjects with unilateral severe and profound hearing loss. Fifteen healthy subjects with normal hearing were enrolled as the control group. The speech recognition thresholds and speech recognition scores at fixed signal noise ratio(SNR) in UHL participants with and without BTE hearing aid were tested in the sound field and compared with those in the control group. One-way ANOVA was used to examine the significance of the difference between UHL participants and control group, and paired t-test was used to analyze the compensation effect of hearing aid on speech recognition in noise in UHL participants. Results:The speech recognition thresholds were significantly higher in both UHL groups(P<0.01) compared with the control group, there was no significant difference between two UHL groups. And the speech recognition scores were significantly lower when the SNR was fixed(P<0.01), and there were no significant differences between two UHL groups. When fitting BTE hearing aid, the speech recognition thresholds of the two groups significantly decreased(P<0.01), and the speech recognition scores significantly improved(P<0.01). Conclusion:Patients with above moderate UHL presented a significant decrease in performance of speech recognition in noise, and fitting BTE hearing aid on the affected ear had a positive compensation effect.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the effect of different rotations modes of control rod on testing results of the subjective visual vertical (SVV). Methods:Twenty-four normal young volunteers were selected for this study, and the control rod of SVV was rotated in clockwise, counterclockwise and any direction at the head tilt-positions of 0°, 45° left and 45° right. The differences of SVV deflection angle values at different rotation modes were analyzed. Results:①The deviation angle values of SVV obtained by rotating the control rod in clockwise, counterclockwise and any direction at the head tilt-positions of 0° were 1.56°±0.21°, 3.05°±0.24°, and 2.16°±0.22°, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05),the deviation angle value of SVV in clockwise direction was smaller; ②At head tilt-positions of 45° left, the SVV deviation angle values obtained by rotating the control rod in three rotation modes were 2.59°±0.53°, 4.03°±0.51°, and 3.49°±0.54°, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),the deviation angle value in the clockwise direction was also smaller; ③At the head tilt-positions of 45° right, the SVV deviation angle values in three modes were 4.68°±0.58°, 7.23°±0.72°, and 5.93°±0.96°, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05),the deviation value of SVV was also smaller when rotated in the clockwise direction; ④Comparison of SVV deviation angle values in three rotation modes at the head tilt-positions of 45° left and 45° right showed that there was no statistical difference in clockwise and in any direction (P>0.05), while the difference was statistically significant when rotated in the counterclockwise direction (P<0.05). Conclusion:Different rotation modes of the control rod during SVV testing will affect the test results. Rotating the control rod in clockwise direction to make the SVV values more accurate is recommended.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the correlation between Mandarin acceptable noise level (M-ANL) and cortical auditory evoked potential (CAEP), and to explore the possible mechanism leading to individual differences in M-ANL values. Methods:Thirty listeners aged 22-33 years with normal hearing were selected as the study subjects, and the M-ANL test and CAEP test were performed respectively. The most comfortable level (MCL), maximum background noise level (BNL), M-ANL and CAEP values of each subject were recorded. The latency of each wave of P1, N1, P2, N2, P300 and the amplitude of P1-N1, P2-N2, P300 in CAEP were recorded for each subject. SPSS 25.0 was used for statistical analysis to explore the correlation between the MCL value, BNL value and M-ANL values and the latency of P1, N1, P2, N2, P300 and P1-N1, P2-N2, P300 amplitudes of CAEP. Results:①The MCL value and M-ANL value were positively correlated with the P2 latency of CAEP, and the correlation coefficients were 0.404 and 0.400, respectively, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no correlation with P1, N1, N2, and P300 latencies of CAEP (P>0.05). ②The MCL value, BNL value and M-ANL value had no significant difference with the CAEP wave amplitudes of P1-N1, P2-N2, and P300 (P>0.05). Conclusion:There was a certain correlation between M-ANL and CAEP in young adults with normal hearing, suggesting that the central auditory cortex might play a potential regulatory role in the background noise tolerance. Individuals with a greater background noise acceptance might have stronger central efferent mechanisms and/or less active central afferent mechanisms.
